About the Zach Armstrong Fund |
The Zach Armstrong Fund was created in 2007 by Tim and Mary Eastman when Zach (their grandson) was diagnosed with fibrodysplasia ossificans progressiva (FOP), one of the rarest, most disabling genetic conditions known to medicine. FOP causes bone to form in muscles, tendons, ligaments and other connective tissues. Bridges of extra bone develop across joints, progressively restricting movement and forming a second skeleton that imprisons the body in bone. There are no other known examples in medicine of one normal organ system turning into another. Click here for more information on FOP. The Zach Armstrong Fund, working in association with the IFOPA, was created to raise awareness of the condition and to raise funds for work on a cure. From time to time, the fund also contributes towards the costs of Zach's treatment. If you would like to assist the Zach Amrstong Fund with its objectives, please contact Tim or Mary via this website. |
